Clinton Facade Improvement Study

Clinton, Michigan
Clinton Theatre and Spectral Glass

The Village of Clinton, built along the River Raisin in the mid-1800s, has been revitalizing its beautiful Victorian downtown since the 1980s. As a component of the Village’s application to enter their downtown as a historic district in the National Register of Historical Places, we completed a partial historical survey of the downtown in 2008, made possible by a grant from Michigan’s Scenic Byways project. Through analysis of historical photos and interviews with town leaders and elders, we created phased development plans for each building, outlining elements to be restored or reconstructed, and presented period-appropriate color options to highlight facade details. Our goal was to work with building owners to create achievable plans to improve the historical image and value of their property.
