Oakland University

Rochester Hills, Michigan
Oakland University facade

Advances in building technology and a burgeoning student population inspired OU to renovate many of the older buildings at the center of its campus. We were hired to assess the condition and coordinate replacement of windows and doors on four of them. Operable windows replaced older fixed panes to reflect changes in building use. New energy-efficient windows replaced areas of older single-pane glazing as well as windows that had been blocked over with Plexiglas sheets. Derelict oversize sliding doors were replaced with more proportionate swinging doors. The new units were designed to create a consistent panel rhythm across the building facades, updating the image of campus and making it a more inviting location.
